My photography history began when I was a kid hanging out with my grandfather in his dark room. I vividly remember watching him develop black and white prints, sometimes being able to handle them myself.

I became very serious about photography during my years at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, and later obtaining a bachealor’s degree in photography from San Jose State University. One person who influenced me early on was a teacher from Cabrillo, (name withheld) who told our class to shoot a roll of film within a 5 by 5 foot patch of sidewalk and come up with 36 completely different images. This assignment concept set the creative process inside my mind to this very day. This concept fuels me.

My eye turns every scene into a photo, from every angle. How can I best depict what I’m trying to do, or trying to say? This is the effort that I put into every photo shoot.
